After the initial setup, the app displays objects currently available to observe. Choose a target and follow the on-screen arrows as you move the telescope manually. When the bullseye turns green, the object should be within the telescope's low-power field of view.

StarSense does not move or automatically track the telescope. It provides the navigation while you remain in control.

The app also distinguishes between objects suitable for city observing and those that benefit from darker skies, helping you choose worthwhile targets for the conditions you actually have.

DX Mount & Precise Manual Control

The DX 130AZ uses Celestron's manual Alt-Azimuth DX mount on an adjustable full-height tripod.

You can move quickly across larger areas of sky by hand, then use the geared slow-motion controls on both axes for much finer positioning once you approach your target.

That combination works particularly well with StarSense: the app gets you to the right part of the sky, while the slow-motion controls make it easy to centre the object and follow it through the eyepiece.

There are no motors, GoTo system or external telescope power requirements, keeping the observing experience straightforward while still giving you very precise control.
