Description

If you're fascinated with the night sky and want an upgrade from a beginner scope, the saxon 130/900 EQ2 Velocity Reflector Telescope is for you.

Featuring a large aperture of 130mm which gives plenty of light to help capture views of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, these intermediate-level telescopes also comes with a good combination of acccessories to help you get started on your observing session.

The saxon 1309EQ2 Velocity Reflector Telescope with Motor Drive System has the following features:

  • 130mm aperture
  • 900mm focal length (f/6.9)
  • 5.2" aluminised & overcoated mirror

  • Smooth rack and pinion 1.25" focuser
  • Super 1.25" eyepieces
  • 1.5x erecting prism for terrestrial use
  • Aluminium tripod with accessory tray.

Why would I need a motor drive?

A motor drive helps by keeping the telescope "on target" by controlling the telescope's tracking speed to compensate for the earth's rotation during long exposure of celestial objects. This will help correct the problem of vibration when viewing a celestial object.

For bright, clear views everytime you'll want the saxon 1309EQ2 Velocity Reflector Telescope with Motor Drive System.

    Great, Affordable

The scope is very good and the mount works, but you need to do some learning and purchasing extra accessories to get the most out of this telescope. To get a decent view of the planets, you need to buy a 2x barlow and/or 10mm plossl eyepiece, the stock 25mm eyepiece is great but the magnification is only for deep-sky objects like the Orion nebula. The stock 10mm and 4mm aren't very good. The telescope itself usually needs a bit of collimating to get the details on planets. Otherwise everything is clear and intuitive to use. The mount is expected for the price; it works just fine. However at high magnifications it gets very shaky from any vibration, attaching and getting the motor to work was tricky (don't overtighten it), and you can't accurately polar align the mount so expect to use the dec. knob to manally track one axis from time to time. All of this isn't a huge deal but takes time to get the most out of this telescope. Overall good for the price.

    Great buy but

Great scope but the view of the planets it’s no where near what it says it is, so I need to buy a separate Barlow lens. But other than that great and motor drive is great. Easy assembly
